Engine light after level 2 charging

Yes, frustrating and costly that the dealer didn't diagnose it. Only good if they fix it for free !

    Outlander phev 64 dipped headlights

I agree the ban on non-essential car journeys seem strange, but consider: You have a crash and medical assistance is required. And maybe you end up in a hospital, maybe even in an ICU ? About as unlikely as a world-wide virus pandemic I'd say.

Engine light after level 2 charging

Oh dear, that's not good: http://mmc-manuals.ru/manuals/outlander_iii/online/Service_Manual_2013/2014/54/html/M154921390003800ENG.HTM

    Long term charging

My PHEV has only been used for shopping trips of 2 miles each in the last 3 weeks. The guessometer has hardly changed in that period. So no need to keep it plugged in.

    Outlander phev 64 dipped headlights

There must be a reason that inappropriate use of fog lights is illegal in the UK. Guess what it is. "The Highway Code gives explicit instruction on when you shouldn't use fog lights, in Rule 236: "You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226)...

    Upgrading vehicles - from a 66 plate to a 69 plate

There used to be only one plate per year, but that led to new buyers delaying purchase until the new number was issued, a "status" thing, leading to very peaky car sales. I hardly notice the numbers now, I couldn't have told you the difference between 16 and 66, so thanks for the explanation...

First mods from new PHEV driver

In the UK a bell is a legal requirement....... A car has a horn, but tooting can be misconstrued, the sound from the PHEV won't. And it's not there all the time, only when driving slowly.

Engine light after level 2 charging

Well done, and I've learned a lot too. I would suggest you buy a 30 Amp EVSE to future-proof your eventual BEV :) The PHEV will automatically draw16 of the available 30 Amps, my EVSE is 30 Amp capable

    Using 700W+ when charged?

By no means an expert on the finer points of the charging process, but I believe there may be background activities towards the end of charging, or even after fully charged is indicated - cell balancing for example? But safest to set a charge time as suggested.

Engine light after level 2 charging

Perhaps the "charger", or the car charger, isn't closing down correctly at the end of a full overnight charge, but is okay on partial charges? I'm sure you don't want to risk another visit to the dealers, but you do need a reliable charging system. So try another full charge and risk the...

Engine light after level 2 charging

Not sure what you mean by the engine light. How is it described in the Instruction Manual.? The "Charger" simply supplies 240v to the real charger in the car. When you plug into the car, various parameters are checked by the car before instructing the "Charger" to go Clunk and supply 240v to...

    Limp mode

To me that is exactly the situation where the opposite will happen, the ICE will automatically start when you have the accelerator buried enough because of the steepness of the hill.. But if you've approached the hill with insufficient remaining cbarge, the charge might run out and you would...

    Watchdog app

I bought a Vgate icar Pro BT3.0 It has very low power consumption 2.7mA so can left plugged in, and it auto shuts off.

    Outlander Toxic Smell

Could be the insulation on one of those thick orange drive cables is overheating. Or any of the car's electric cables for that matter.

    Achieving ultimate fuel consumption

So long as you brake gently in B0 you are Regening, too hard and the real brakes come on. Some have managed 25% more range with coasting.

Fuel economy round the town in Hybrid Mode

Hi Alan What is your average city mileage travelled? Ideally the PHEV should start the day charged, do about 20 miles all on battery, and come home with at worst about 5 miles of charge left, before overnight charging for the next day's journey. And it will be able to do occasional journeys...

    Achieving ultimate fuel consumption

Everyone has their option on the best use of SAVE, CHRG, and the B paddles, but I would say you have it about right. All I would add is that the car is fairly heavy so coasts well, you will be surprised how gentle a slope will maintain speed in B0. Why coast in B0? Because using no battery at...
