    Choices for next car

I'm not sure when the sunroof disappeared. Its absence is purely a UK marketing decision, as (e.g.) the current French range have sunroofs on the high-end versions.

    Choices for next car

I'd miss the sun roof, which doesn't appear to be available on any of the new range.

    EV Mode - Purpose ?

On my older PHEV (details below) setting the heater to minimum (15°C) prevents the engine starting even at below zero outside temperatures (though it doesn't usually get as cold here as it does up your way). At other settings, the engine will start if outside temperatures are more than 10°...

    Thoughts after 3 mths use.

The PHEV has no gears. There's a direct drive between the engine and the front wheels that can only operate above 45 mph (parallel mode), when the engine revs are directly related to the car's speed (like a fixed-gear bike). At other times, when not in pure electric drive, the engine acts as a...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

Fair review, but I'm not sure what he was doing to get only 30 mpg (that's pushing towards 10 l/100km for our continental friends) - driving it back and forth over the Conor Pass? I've never had a figure that poor, and no-one's ever accused me of having a light right foot!

Same for Android, though occasionally my phone will automatically connect to the car WiFi if it's the stronger signal.

    End of lease

I'm sure you're all desperate to know what happened :) I'm now the registered owner of my original leased car - my brother bought it from Lex (for a bit less than £20k - I paid for it) and then I 'bought' it from him (for £0) once the V5C had arrived from DVLA (may take 'up to 6 weeks', but...

    Thoughts after 3 mths use.

I've got the previous model (see below), but you can't open the tailgate with the key-fob buttons unless the car is first unlocked. From inside the car, the tailgate button on the dash will only operate if the car is 'off' or in P (I guess this is intended as a safety feature). And there's...

Yes. A 'plug in' 13A connection* doesn't provide sufficient power to compensate completely for running the heater, but it definitely helps to leave you with a higher state of charge. * I'm not sure about a dedicated 16A connection (but I suspect that doesn't either)

Should fast chargers be reserved for EVs?

This could easily be done (if desired) by having a fixed cost for using the charging point, in addition to a per unit rate. I believe some already do this, making them uneconomic for PHEV users - who have a choice between leccy and petrol that pure EV owners do not.

    End of lease

Of course, what I'd forgotten was that the government car grant ceased for PHEVs in October, which has pushed up new and used prices by around 10%. (Good news for leasing companies.)

Naughty, Bob! But I have to buy my own tyres :(

    End of lease

£17k is a very competitive price, having had a look at the major car trading sites. It's noticeable that the pre-facelift models are a fair bit cheaper, is that because the warranty changed at the same time?

    End of lease

Webuyanycar quoted just over £17k, but that's a buyer's price not a seller's (and their business model is to make a lowball offer, though they'll automatically up it by a few hundred after a week, if you wait). But for your purposes, gobiman, that's just what you needed :)

    End of lease

I've only had Lex's initial offer, with a hint that they would be willing to negotiate 'a bit'. Almost exactly £20k for a 3yo with 23,000 miles which is towards the top end of what Autotrader and Parkers have on offer. It's obvious that they won't get anything like that by passing it on to a...

    End of lease

If he wants it that badly, he can have it :) Actually, he's a Prius driver and hasn't really got room for a larger car.

    End of lease

About 18 months ago, I posted that I'd talked to Lex about buying my company car at the end of its 3 year lease-rental, but they told me this was not possible. As the lease is up in a few more weeks, I tried again and this time they are prepared to sell, but not to me. It seems they can't sell...

First Phev! Any help or tips appreciated.

The key piece of information that will allow all the knowledgeable folks on here to help you is your usage pattern. Are you a road warrior doing 30,000 miles a year or just using the car for a shortish daily commute? If the company is paying your fuel, are they prepared to reimburse you for...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

I wonder how having all that weight at the back of the car will affect the handling? While (I read that) the Outlander is a reasonably competent off-roader, it's unlikely to be the first choice for anyone for whom that is the most important consideration.

What kind of charging infrastructure is required?

Not many things are certain on the Internet, but one of them is that any post beginning with "That's total and absolute rubbish" is going to be total and absolute rubbish. "A huge increase in EVs" from a base of zero a few years ago, it's now approaching 200,000, that's ~0.5% of the UK vehicle...
