    Help identifying under bonnet item

no, i'm saying becuase it doesnt have engine vacuum 'most of the time' it uses the electric vacuum pump with reservoir instead. whether the engine vacuum supplements the electric pump or not i dont know.

And the pump runs whenever needed, not just on start. Remember, no ice so no engine vacuum

    Help identifying under bonnet item

The box is a vacuum reservoir. I split mine by pushing the mudguard/fender against a post while leaving a parking spot. Results in lack of power assist to brakes, until the pump manages to build up vacuum again.

    Charge mode?

As far as I can tell, the cycle is run on battery till depleted, - run ice, excess energy used to top up battery until sufficient is available to use battery. 'normal' mode depletion = 0k estimate range, 'sufficient' = 1k range. Save mode sets 'depleted to whatever it is currently, and '...

    1500 watt plug

Ready mode does not mean ice running. Just the hv battery is available. If it was flat I guess the ice would start.

Bought a used 2022 outlander PHEV - Is it possible to apply V2L adapter for AC 120v home appliances?

Thank you for your detailed comments Woon Chung. My phev is 2014, sounds like it is way out of date!

Bought a used 2022 outlander PHEV - Is it possible to apply V2L adapter for AC 120v home appliances?

If i was to use any 12v device I would have the car in ready mode, which keeps the 12v charged. Even the interior lights and radio for a few hours will result in flat... Damhik....

Bought a used 2022 outlander PHEV - Is it possible to apply V2L adapter for AC 120v home appliances?

The door should unlock with the key fob. Maybe it needs a new battery as well? Otherwise as Andy says, just drive. But like any modern car, service requires the right knowledge and equipment. Perhaps you can find a service manual that will help you, or help your local mechanic if you can't...

Engine doesn't start at all run on EV

Not sure about the timing adjustment, but I now believe there is no actual starter. But the generator is driven as a motor to spin the engine. I would expect this is applied for only a very short time. So it tries, stops, no engine, tries again etc...

Should you get your BMU recalibrated?

If they have the right equipment and knowledge.. Apart from the drive train, there are a few other things that are different. The vacuum supply is electric not manifold, the aircon is fully electric not engine driven (different lubricant apparently). Is it new under warranty or not?

Engine doesn't start at all run on EV

I was thinking more that it was the engine failing to start, and the starter is intended to run only for a few seconds. In normal use the engine starts very easily.l

    Idiot guide

Use the info display (instrument cluster) which shows the energy flow from engine wheels and battery. Any excess from the engine goes to the battery, (and from regen) and when the controller sees 1k range is available it will use it. You should quickly get a feel for how it hangs together...

    Compulsory traction battery servicing?

Can you ask them for the Mitsubishi service procedure? Never heard of this in Oz, car always serviced by dealers to schedule, and Mitsubishi replaced the drive battery free of charge (following 2 emails and the dealer determining it had degraded..) I think they do check the cooling system...

My road trip across the country

Fair enough. I'm still interested in a comparison between ordinary outlander and the phev. But it is pure madness to drive a plugin hybrid without ever plugging it....

My road trip across the country

E=mc2 so a flat battery should be lighter than a charged one... :) Anyone have mileage figures for a petrol only outlander.?

My road trip across the country

I understand what you are saying, but that is a bit harsh. You will get some gains from regeneration. That's the point of a non-plugin hybrid.

    Australians down under

Thanks, it could be memory - perhaps i was achieving 6.9. Im sure it was better than 8 though. The ice seems to be switching on more often around town, even with full charge. Its quite chilly at the moment, perhaps it is heater related.

    Australians down under

G'day Ive had my 14/aspire for a year now and am very happy, in general. A couple of questions though if anyone has any comments.. 1. Recently my mileage has been degrading. I switched to 95 petrol which helped for a while but it's down again. I frequently do a 300k round trip, i used to be...
