Interested in Purchasing 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – Seeking Advice regarding battery degradation

I think this is the case with all EVs. We've just cancelled our reservation on a new Ford Explorer full-EV after discussing the battery warranty - and that was not a cheap vehicle. Martin

Outlander Phev In-Depth Observations - Mike Mas

I always tried to minimise the use of the battery - it made little difference to the running cost of the car, but was a big maintenance bill waiting down the road - and I wanted to ensure it would be somebody else's problem, not mine! Martin

False Advertising - Class Action Lawsuit

No, no SOH - we bought a Nissan. It was not worthless - we got about £6000 trade-in against a new X-Trail. The trouble is that when the range gets down to 12 miles, it is not really a viable EV, but lugging that heavy battery round impacts on its visibility as a petrol car. Martin

False Advertising - Class Action Lawsuit

Not sure about that - our 2014 PHEV was down to little more than 12 miles range - even in the summer. Martin

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

Air gets more viscous as the temperature drops, rubber tyres become stiffer as do lubricants in the transmission. All put together, added to the reduced battery efficiency, results in significantly poorer fuel economy. It happens with a petrol car too, but they are fundamentally less efficient...

False Advertising - Class Action Lawsuit

It's their inability to address battery degradation that is the problem. We have a 25 year old Landcruiser on the drive outside - it's looking tatty these days but it's still capable of doing everything it did the day it was delivered - and the only maintenance it's had in all that time was oil...

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

For the last several years of its life, I would have been quite pleased to get 12.8 miles of winter driving out of our 2014 Outlander PHEV! Martin

And there is the difference - our primary usage is a return journey of around 220 miles every week with no easy opportunity to recharge. Martin

False Advertising - Class Action Lawsuit

If you don't need the size and range of a hybrid SUV, then the Leaf probably makes sense. We had a new Ford Explorer EV reserved - actually went to see one of the early prototypes. It was a nice car, but our interest waned when we discussed range and battery life expectancy. The realistic range...

    Going away for a while

Connect it to the mains through a smart socket and program it to come on for a couple of hours once a week. Martin

False Advertising - Class Action Lawsuit

We bought a Nissan X-Trail ePower e4orce - and it is wonderful. No pretense at being an EV or PHEV - it's a petrol car with an electric transmission. The level of equipment is fantastic, the handling excellent and the fuel economy is similar to what we were getting out of the Mitsubishi - better...

    UK Owners - Insurance

The mention of the dreaded "EV" gets them very nervous - there have been some high profile cases of Teslas going up in smoke - very literally - and the underwriters are getting very nervous about anything that carts around a lithium battery! Martin

Looks like we have a new forum!

Likewise on the daily notifications - about three weeks after we finally waved goodbye to our 2014 PHEV! We've replaced it with a Nissan X-Trail e-Power - the vehicle that Mitsubishi should have built from the start. It makes no claim to be an EV - it's a petrol car with an electric...

PHEV not switching to direct drive at 40MPH

This was a long-standing problem on ours (now gone) - in cold weather with the battery fully charged, it would usually refuse to go into "direct drive" mode. Martin

    Servicing cost

Since the warranty on ours expired, I've dropped back to oil-change services - which Halfords are prepared to do at a couple of hundred quid a time.

Anyone tried a ROAV Viva in a PHEV?

I'm a great fan of Alexa and have just received an email promoting the ROAV Viva which is an Alexa designed to go in cars. Not particularly expensive, and I could just get one in the hope that it works, but it would be nice to hear from someone else that has already tried it!

    Camping/sleeping in the PHEV?

It certainly would not be my first choice of car to sleep in.

    Battery degradation petition

So how come Anko managed to convince them to give him a new battery. I believe that Trex is also negotiating for a new one...

    Battery degradation petition

Having read the petition and watched the video, I remain unclear as to what they believe the problem is and what solution they are hoping for. I got the impression that the thrust of the petition is simply that the firmware is overestimating the degradation and that the battery is actually...

    Mysterious beeping

Ours suddenly developed a strange pattern of beeps on significant acceleration or deceleration - had me really puzzled. Then, a few days later, I was loading shopping into the back, moved a bag that I had put in there the previosu week and got exactly the same pattern. I looked inside and...
