    2014 Outlander Upgrade sound system

I was also thinking of upgrading the factory sound system in my GX4hs especially for some much needed bass. I’m envious of the US-spec models with the boot (trunk) mounted Rockford Fosgate factory subwoofer. My local car audio centre sells Audison, Pioneer, Hertz and Focal components and offer...

    PHEV off road not good!

I can recommend all-terrain tyres as fitted to my 2016 Outlander PHEV in standard size 225/55R18. I chose a set of General Grabber AT3 and so far so good.

Factory Outlander PHEV 2.0 air filter element half blanked off?

What vehicle is the blue Mitsubishi air filter for/from?

Factory Outlander PHEV 2.0 air filter element half blanked off?

Maybe so, but still interesting to know what the reason behind the design is?

Are Outlander PHEV shocks the same as other models?

or maybe I fit an aftermarket lift kit and get the height back and the benefit of the stiffer Eibach springs already installed? I have no experience of such a kit although there appear to be plenty for sale.

Factory Outlander PHEV 2.0 air filter element half blanked off?

Does anybody know why the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 PHEV factory air filter is only half the size of the available air box space? It appears half blanked off? Is this to restrict the volume of air hold into the engine? I always thought the more air flow the better. Any thoughts or suggestions...

Thud/engaging sound from standstill when pressing accelerator

Yes I can’t recommend highly enough. I can see why my local Mitsubishi dealer recommended it over the factory part.

Are Outlander PHEV shocks the same as other models?

You are so right, the rear shock absorbers were a nightmare. The front KYB were perfect no issue. The rears were completely wrong according to my garage, as were the Bilstein’s supplied and he ended up replacing with different KYB shocks he sourced after much cross referencing of part numbers...

    Outlander PHEV brake caliper upgrade.

Good advice, now you mention it my front brakes grind a bit every day for the first mile or so of braking. Then it goes away. I always put it down to the weather and standing overnight exposed to the elements.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GX4hs with KYB Eibach suspension.

I was asked to create a showcase thread for my 2016 Outlander. Upgrades to date; Mitsubishi genuine rear spoiler. KYB Excel-G shock absorbers. Eibach Pro-springs. Eibach Pro-spacers 20mm. Powerflex rear motor mount. LED licence number plate bulb kit. General Grabber AT3 A/T tyres. New driver...

    Outlander PHEV brake caliper upgrade.

All very true. Thanks for replies. The picture above is the front 2-piston caliper. I went and checked just to be sure. The rear caliper is smaller again and only a single piston.

2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 144000km - Dark grey

Very nice colour. I chose the same as you. I agree with you on the shock absorbers (and springs) we found the ride and handling to be a particularly weak spot that we weren’t expecting. Our previous SUV was a Ford Kuga ST-Line which I thought was bad until we switched to the Outlander. After...

    Second phev

Nice car, from your pic I notice the black painted models do without the fake door trim stickers applied at the factory and look all the better for it. I assume the chrome mirror caps are an official Mitsubishi accessory?

    Charging from the engine

I wish it defaulted to Save mode all of the time. I often forget to engage Save and deplete all my battery on the motorway. I try to avoid charging by the engine when moving as it uses a lot of fuel sadly. Charging from the engine while stationary is a lot faster and more fuel efficient. I...

    Outlander PHEV brake caliper upgrade.

Actually true. My Outlander was recalled for both rear calipers to be replaced free of charge. They also replaced the drivers door lock button at the same time as it had stopped working.

    Outlander PHEV brake caliper upgrade.

I agree it is not for racing of any kind but surely a simple more powerful caliper upgrade is good for a variety of situations.

    Outlander PHEV brake caliper upgrade.

I am finding the brake power of my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to be not particularly powerful for such a heavy vehicle. My 2016 model appears to have a 2-piston Mitsubishi stamped caliper at the front with a 294mm diameter brake disc and curved type brake pads. I changed the original OEM...

Initial thud /engagement when pressing accelerator from standstill

That video is perfect. However, I would take my Mitsubishi dealer technicians advice and buy the Powerflex motor mount with better quality rubber bush and CNC construction rather than cast original. It was a prefect fit and no more thud. Looks great too, shame it’s hidden from view.

Thud/engaging sound from standstill when pressing accelerator

Sounds like your rear motor mount rubber (bush) has worn out. A common fault even with low mileage due to a sub-standard original £90 Mitsubishi part. I unsuccessfully tried to have my motor mount replaced under the Mitsubishi warranty but got nowhere. Yet they were happy to replace my £1000...
