Front shock dust cover bellows shredded

Getting this fixed in a couple of weeks, along with the regular service. They asked me to confirm which 'dust boots' had died, so I had a look. The boots on the shock absorbers, inside the front springs, have absolutely collapsed. I'm stunned that they are in such bad condition. It looks like...

MiPHEV's Highway Trip Economy, Trailering, and Fuel Logbook Data

For the car to be in parallel mode all the time, you'd need an extra gearbox on the engine.

Part Wanted Space saver wheel wanted in the UK

Well... Here in Oz. If you're in the middle of nowhere, you tow a trailer with many spare wheels and tires, or have them on your roof rack. Everywhere else, places that sell tyres also offer roadside repair/replacement and it's a significant part of their business. You don't destroy your tyre...

Does the PHEV Have a heat pump 2019-2020

Once you've had to deal with a few AI posts, they become more obvious, along these lines: Lots of words, apparently in the right order, but subtle, weird, non-human mistakes, and no value added by the post.

Does the PHEV Have a heat pump 2019-2020

Four out of four posts were AI generated noise. End of user.

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

That is managed by the car's software, which protects the battery by maintaining 'headroom' between full charge on the display and actual full charge in the battery. However, some people use various 'reset methods' to defeat that protection, so there's no guarantees...

    2018 Outlander Phev

Hiya, The Tech Admin is looking in to this for you/us. I can see more 'locations' for users now, previously, I could only see my own. If you go to your 'Account Details' page, you should be able to see the field where you set location. https://www.myoutlanderphev.com/account/ In this thread...

Engine running for five minutes while on EV mode

It could be the B5 if the battery is full. Some of the newer models use the engine as a brake if the battery is full, and warm up the engine to make that available. I'm sorry, I don't know when they started doing that.

Sorry mate, I don't. I only have moderator access rather than admin access. I'll look around and also ask the admins.

    Heavy freeway driving

With four passengers and luggage, you could put the car into Charge mode before you hit the bottom of each hill, but it's probably overkill. Keep your speed at or below 100 kph / 60 mph for best fuel economy. You fuel economy will plummet if you drive at higher speeds.

    Smell of burning

Coolant burns with white smoke. If it is coming out of your tail pipe, this could be an indication of a serious problem, examples include a cracked head or a blown head gasket. I recommend that you take your vehicle to a suitably qualified mechanic immediately.

Turning off the alarm completely (internal and external) - MY17

You could try manually locking the doors, i.e. lock the last door with the key. I don't know if that works, but worth a try. Other than that, maybe not locking the car?

    Charging from the engine

I just get in mine and drive. Seems to have worked fine so far. I usually only use charge mode to make the engine run periodically to keep everything lubricated. (Not counting yesterday, where I ran it for an entire way out to the grocery store, because the car hadn't charged up.)

    Charging Interrupted.

I hopped into the car this morning, to find it only showing a range of 3km and the message: "Charging Interrupted" showing on the Dashboard. My best guess is that there was a momentary interruption to the mains power the last time I put the car on charge (Sunday morning). Fortunately I had...

Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

Another thing to watch out for. Periodically, the vehicle switches into a running mode with the message: "Engine running to maintain fuel system" (or such like). That mode and message will continue to appear until 20l of fuel has been added to the fuel tank. (And yes, if the tank is full you...

Vibration noises from the passenger door

Others have mentioned something vibrating in the roof rail I think.

    TPMS Service Required

In my case, the (inside tyre) TPMS is after market, here in Oz. So I'd reinforce the idea that tyre fitters know about them and can deal with them accordingly. As a general rule though, I try to avoid the really low price, super budget places (for servicing or tyres), because they have to keep...

Part Wanted Space saver wheel wanted in the UK

I'm sorry, I haven't been able to find the post, but I recall a member saying that the car wasn't drive-able with a space saver on, because it kept triggering ABS and Traction Control. (I think) I haven't been able to find the right combination of search terms, because there has been a huge...

    Use of 'jump start' terminal

I can't remember if it was here, but I remember a conversation where members stated that they had damaged their batteries by trying to jump start another car. This is because the little 12V battery is really not up to much more than running the car's electronics. If the current draw for...
