2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

Tai, I would be very interested to hear your impressions of MY2018 versus MY2019 when you've lived with both of them, with or without the powertrain updates (hopefully USA gets the full update, but who knows at this point).

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

There are many so-called reviews of the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander popping up on the net, yet most of them are just regurgitation of the specs with very little if any real-life driving experience. I've also noticed most use the same pictures too, very few of them are unique driving test pictures...

2019 Upgraded Outlander PHEV in US too?

Not just that dealer, this dealer too: http://www.eagletribune.com/business/outlander-phev-makes-hybrid-power-work/article_29041004-90d1-511c-9147-9d7954e36cda.html Quote: "Mitsubishi Motors will help the cause by making ongoing improvements, such as a longer-life battery that Michaud expects...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

I just received communication from a USA Mitsubishi dealer that the Canadian memo that mentioned no powertrain updates for 2019 did not get sent to USA dealers. The USA dealer himself is expecting, in fact telling customers who inquire, to expect powertrain updates for 2019.

2019 Upgraded Outlander PHEV in US too?

I have verified with a USA Mitsubishi dealer that the Canadian memo mentioned in this thread did not get sent to USA dealers. The USA dealer is expecting, in fact, telling customers that inquire, that powertrain updates are coming for 2019.

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

This is the first USA-based article I've seen about the 2019 model that hints it will get the updated powertrain: http://www.eagletribune.com/business/outlander-phev-makes-hybrid-power-work/article_29041004-90d1-511c-9147-9d7954e36cda.html Quote: "Mitsubishi Motors will help the cause by making...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

We know the 2019 changes will not upgrade the vehicle in any significant way until it rides on a new platform, which at this point is a given that it will be shared with something (maybe Rogue platform) from Nissan. The fact that they updated even the chassis tells me that the current Outlander...

    A few newbie questions

Sorry if this is obvious - if the vehicle is OFF when charging, I assume it is charging both batteries, correct?

About to buy, need answers please

If you can, wait for the 2019 model. The changes to 2019 are much more extensive than the press release revealed, including chassis, suspension, and brake changes. The USA model probably will not get the powertrain updates, but everything else, including the front *and* rear seats, additional...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

Latest dinside article has verified a few things: https://www.dinside.no/motor/kan-ga-tre-maneder-pa-bare-strom/69873122 - still no memory seats :( - ICE 2.4L engine produces 135hp and 211 nm/torque, up from 121hp and 190 nm/torque - the road test notes lower road noise and improved driving...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

Here is the first side-by-side I could find between the 2018 and 2019 models: Some observations from this side-by-side shot: - LED lights have three small and light vertical slits (looks like three v's from the side), the headlight cover shape remains the same. It is not clear if the non-LED...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

It seems like this article verifies somewhat that the USA/Canada versions will be only the partial updates without the powertrain updates: https://www.automotive-fleet.com/304007/mitsubishi-to-offer-fleet-only-outlander-plug-in-hybrid :( :(

    Seized rear brake caliper

Sorry you are going through this, and it is disappointing on Mitsubishi's part. They are all coming from the same factory in Japan, so if there is a recall in 3 countries, there should have been a global recall. Consumer protection is much stronger in USA, especially California and New York...

2019 Outlander PHEV reviews and what we know

"We have improved about 90% of the main components of the PHEV system (in regards to MY2019)" - notable quote, Yoji Otani, Chief Product Specialist, Mitsubishi | Note: this does not apply to AUS, USA, & CAN Changes to MY2019 are much more extensive than what the March 2018 press release...

    newbie q - does drive-battery charge also charge non-drive b

The reason I'm asking is, if the ON vehicle state does indeed charge the 12V battery, and the wall-charger for the drive-battery does not charge the 12V battery, then it actually is beneficial to charge the 12V battery with a battery tender, since when the vehicle turns ON, neither the ICE or...

    newbie q - does drive-battery charge also charge non-drive b

Another newbie question - can you please tell, does the external (plug from wall) drive-battery charging also charge the non-drive battery? Just curious if there is any benefit in using a battery tender to charge the non-drive battery, thanks.

can you force no drive-battery charging while driving?

The cleantechnica review stated they got 35mpg on petrol power, besting the epa rating by a massive 40% (depending on where one lives, it's not easy matching the epa rating, generally viewed as generous) - this is indicative of a driving environment very favorable for mileage, perhaps a mix of...

can you force no drive-battery charging while driving?

Interesting that two viewpoints from Netherlands saying power is sufficient, whereas US media says it is not. So I did a comparison between the EU version (I looked at the UK site) to the US version and found these differences: HP @ 4,500 rpm: UK version: 121 | US version: 117 lb-ft torque @...
