What features would you like to see added to the Outlander PHEV in the future?

Here is the post I did about having the dealer remove the rear seats when I bought the car. It looks like I could have easily done it myself, the only trick was making sure not to damage the cable to detect if a passenger is sitting in them. My dash now shows passengers permenently seated in the...

    Battery incorrect readings

Also temperature. I would guess I get at least 25% less EV range mid-winter here on the east coast of Canada compared to the summer, but it is hard to tell because I use the ICE more to heat the car when it's too cold for the heat pump.

I see you have a 2014. This is not an issue on the 2023 that I own. It has good traction uphill in snow with proper winter tires.

The annoying thing is that the car is very good in the snow, provided the temperature is warm enough to start it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkyoH33I6mY

Botany. Have taken some very suspect backroads succesfully with the car seeking sites with rare plants. But I haven't got around to eating them.

    The dreaded turtle

I also wonder if it could be that the additional cost would have tipped the price on some trim levels over the cutoff point for government rebates. Sounds like it was a marketing/exec decision, not an engineering decision. It should at least have been an optional accessory.

    Cold weather affecting predicted range

Often the air conditioning comes on to dehumidify the air while heating. Since the heat pump is needed to air condition, the ICE is needed to heat. Also, if it is too cold for the heat pump to heat, the ICE will come on (or the dash will warn you about the loss of heat if it is in EV mode). The...

Mitsubishi article on different S-AWC drive modes

I don't know how many Canadian users may already have seen this online article from Mitsubishi Canada, but I thought it might interest some of the non-Canadians. Its a bit heavy on the marketing hype, but I found there to be some good information on how the different drive modes work. I've...

How long can these cars last?

Electric motors are very good at low speed torque. I have not had any problems towing a fully loaded trailer up a steep slope (on a remote gravel road), though if the battery is low, the engine revs a fair bit to keep the generator running at full output.

PHEV system fault service required (warning)

The forward collision mitigation and rear emergency braking messages could be because of a build up of ice, slush or dirt on the sensors. A good clean of all of them (and the cameras while you’re at it) should fix it, though it may not last long in messy weather.

I would also add to this a single setting for "Trailer Mode" so that I don't have to run through a half dozen menus turning off all the settings Mitsubishi recommends like rear object detection etc. that are incompatible with the trailer, then doing it again to turn them back on once the trailer...

2025 model year: CVT, transmission, or one gear direct drive?

I think the first part is referring to the gas Outlander with CVT rather than the single gear GKN unit on the PHEV.

    Heat pump at low temperatures

This morning is 0C and I decided to remote start the heat on my 2023 to see how well it would work. Even though the car was locked, I had to relock it using the remote app before I could start the remote climate in the app (this is pretty common I find). After 10 minutes I checked the car and it...

I go over toll bridges regularly and use the sunglasses holder of my 2023 SEL to hold the toll transponder. Works great.
